What Oakley Eats These Days!

You know, watching Oakley grow has been one of the most beautiful and emotional journeys of my life. Lately, he’s trying to walk—and not just walk, but run when he’s holding onto me. It’s like he’s saying, “Mum, I’ve got places to be!” It’s such a joy to see him so determined. Every little wobble and step he takes feels like a victory, and I can’t help but cheer him on like he’s running a marathon.

One thing that’s really surprised me is how well he’s doing with his weight. He’s in the 75th percentile for his size, and he’s never had an issue with gaining weight. I’ll be honest—that was always a worry for me. When you have a child with special needs, there are so many things to stress about, and making sure they’re growing and thriving is a huge one. I used to lose sleep over it, wondering if he’d get the nutrients he needed or if he’d struggle to grow like other kids his age. But our dietician has been fantastic, and I’ve got the most amazing nurse now who supports both Oakley and me full-time. She’s worked with other kids in the community, and having her by our side has been such a blessing. She knows exactly what to do, and having that kind of support makes all the difference in the world.
