So, you want the real scoop on how my time on Geordie Shore came about?
It all started when they reached out to Aaron, and honestly, it felt like the chance to be on the show was just hanging in the background for ages. It wasn’t something that happened, right away but when it did it literally was overnight. It was like, one minute we’re just chatting about it, and the next thing I know, bam! Things got greenlit from the studios, and I swear, two weeks later, we were already filming. It all moved so fast!
Now, here’s a juicy detail most people don’t know—when we first started filming, the show wasn’t even called Geordie Shore! The original name was “Geordie More,” and we went with that right up until we were actually filming. Then, they switched the name to Geordie Shore, and well, the rest is history!
What I really enjoyed was being on Geordie Shore OG, where it was more about our real lives. That felt more genuine to me, you know?
I’ll never forget my first scene on Geordie Shore—I was absolutely petrified to be on camera. There’s nothing quite like having a camera shoved in your face and being expected to act all natural. And then, as the show went on, things got even stranger. They brought in these “loggers,” who were literally people sitting behind the cameras, typing out every single word you’re saying as you’re saying it. It was such a weird feeling, knowing that everything you said was being recorded in real-time like that.
Here’s another thing not many people know: I had Romeo and Maddox during those years on camera. When you’ve got kids on set, there are all these rules you have to follow. Like, you need to have a chaperone, and they legally can’t film kids for long periods. So, while you see a quick clip of them on TV, there’s so much going on behind the scenes to make sure everything’s by the book.
Oh, and my first time on the green screen at the Geordie Shore house—let me tell you, I used to sweat like crazy! The chair, the lights, that tiny square room—it was proper dull and made me feel like I was in an oven. And they would often ask you to redo lines, especially in the green screen, which just added to the heat and nerves.
And I’ve got to be honest here—the real Geordie Shore store was vile. I had to use the toilet there once, and honestly, guys, it was so gross. You think reality TV is glamorous, but sometimes it’s just, well, not!
So here’s the real deal on how reality TV works when you’re about to film something. You get a schedule—fancy, right? They book you for an event, maybe something fun like a date or an activity, and tell you how long you’ll need to be there. Usually, it’s not more than half a day of filming because the cast is spread all over the country. They’d have two couples sharing a camera crew, so they’d shoot me, and then head over to shoot with the other group later in the day. When it’s on TV, it looks like it’s all happening at the same time, but nope, that’s editing magic for you!
I’ve got to say, I really enjoyed the adventure trips they organized. Those always felt better than filming at home. It was a change of scenery, and I loved getting out and doing something different. Plus, I had an amazing camera crew. I still keep in touch with some of them to this day—they were absolute legends!
But it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows. There were times when the cast was closer together, like in the earlier series. We had super long days, especially towards the end—five days a week, 10+ hours a day. It was intense, to say the least. And having a mic on you constantly? So weird. You’d forget you had it on and say something random, and then remember, “Oh wait, they can hear everything!”
But honestly, the last series was my favorite. I was pregnant, so I was only filming three hours, three times a week. It was such a nice break from the full-on schedule of the earlier days. I could focus more on my family and enjoy the experience without feeling overwhelmed.
So there you have it—a peek behind the curtain of Geordie Shore. It’s been a wild ride, full of ups and downs, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s all part of the journey, right? And hey, if you’ve got any more questions, you know where to find me! 💖
